Let's welcome Imakatsu at Boat Quay together! The restaurant is located among the stretch of food places along the river. It is a small little space so you have to pay extra attention when you are searching for the restaurant.
Thanks to Gin for the invite and Imakatsu @ Boat Quay for hosting us. It was a good night.
They made Monday feels like TGIF. Guess who had a hard time at work the next day.
Yama Yuzu Shibori ($49.80) |
A good combination of sweetness, sourness and a faint trace of bitterness. This is a refreshing choice and it is even suitable for folks who do not drink often. Word of caution: This is very easy to drink so watch how many cups, or bottles lol, you had!
Do you know what is this? |
PIYOPIYO Minced Meat Cutlet ($9.80) |
The minced meat is well-marinated and it goes so well with the crispy outer layer and the egg inside. Our egg was a little too cooked. This is probably not they're usual standard because the second time (evil bean) ordered, the yolk was all soft and runny.
Mochi Cheese Cutlet ($6.80) |
As per the name suggests, the inside is mochi-soft. Eat this while it is hot because it tastes 10 times better. This is one of the dishes worth trying because.. cheese. CHEESE. yup.
Satsumaage Mentaiko ($6) |
This is fish cake(?) filled with mentaiko. Quite normal in my opinion.
Oyaku Bowl ($14.80) |
This is one of my favourite dishes that night. Look at the egg on egg :D
Close up |
I failed so badly when it comes to breaking runny eggs/pouring syrups etc. Not one of the hippy foodie you see on Instagram, I am sorry guys.
Premium Mentaiko Pork Loin ($21.80) |
The outer layer is fried to perfection and the amazing thing is, the meat retained those yummy meat juices. There is a good balance of fat and lean meat. The peeps called this 'The best Tonkatsu ever'.
However, I am not as crazy though because I don't like anything fat. I literally pick out all the fatty layers in my meat in every meal.
Nonetheless, I have to agree - this is one of the better Tonkatsu I have tasted so far.
Chicken Fillet Cutlet ($7.80 for 2, $9.80 for 4) |
Ah this dish resonated with me. The cutlet was prepared with less oil but the crispness was not compromised. You can dip it with flavoured salts Imakatsu provides: Truffle salt, Wasabi Salt, Lemon Salt and Yuzu Salt.
Imakatsu is a nice place for a small group of friends to chill and catch up. The main courses is delicious and I assure you, you will be spoilt for choice. If you are looking for I even went to check out the other outlet in Star Vista after this food tasting.
