Packaging

25 g red tube in a typical lip balm packaging. Don't doubt this little dubious-looking tube, this thing actually works!

Tip

The opening has a slanted tip, I presumed it is for the easy application on lips. I prefer to squeeze a little out and apply using my fingers.

Multi-functional

Lucas' Papaw ointment claims to have multiple functions - scalds and burns, minor wounds, cuts, insect bites, rashes, just to name a few.

Personally, I have not tried it for any of the purposes mentioned above. I have used it for only 2 things - cracked skin (due to extreme dryness) and peeling lips.

Smell

Smells like chemical/petroleum. Not a very pleasant scent

Taste

Like petroleum/oil. Again, not very pleasant at all.

Texture

When you first squeezed it out from the tube, it is more viscous but when you spread it out, it quickly melts into a blendable oil-like texture. The ointment will sit on top of your skin for quite some time before it will completely dry off.

The Ingredient Debate

There are usually two things people are talking about:

1) The low % of Papaw
It is stated in the website that freshly fermented concentrate cannot be applied directly onto skin. It has to be mixed with a carrier, in this case, petroleum jelly, before it can be safe and effective.

2) Petroleum jelly
Petroleum jelly is one of the biggest questionable ingredients in personal care. Lucas' papaw's company assures the public that the petroleum jelly/wax they are using are of high quality. To be honest, I am also indecisive on this. But it really works well for me so...

Moisturising Level

Another big misconception about this product. With petroleum jelly as the main ingredient, this product is not able to provide moisture. It works more like a sealant that prevents moisture loss from your skin to the surrounding (imagine a cling wrap).
However, I must give credit to the healing property of papaw. Compared to vaseline (mainly made of petroleum jelly too), Lucas papaw helps to heal the wounds so much better and faster.

Results (on skin)

As mentioned, I have only used it for two purposes before and it worked miracle for me. When I was in Aussie, the skin around my mouth started to crack. If this has happened to you before, I'm sure you would understand the pain of that. In a desperate attempt, I applied some of Lucas papaw Ointment and magically, it stopped hurting just within hours!

Results (on lips)

My best encounter with this product is definitely for chapped lips. I have pretty dry lips so naturally when the weather is dry, it will be the first thing to show signs of dehydration. When I first applied it, it felt like a very nice layer protecting my painful lips from the cold. Within hours, there were no more cracks, peeling, pain, or even tenderness. I was so amazed by it I swear. This is by far the most effective product I've tried when it comes to peeling lips.

In an attempt to test the effectiveness of this product once more, I tried it out when I was sick recently. It took a toll my skin and things can get particularly dry. Of course, my lips were peeling so bad that I couldn't use any lipsticks at all! So I reached out to Lucas papaw in hope to save my poor lips and bam! It did not disappoint. With just a thin layer, everything is smooth and soft now. Thank goodness for this!

Although I am uncertain about the ingredients, I cannot deny this has helped me so much when my lips were dry and painful. The relief was almost quick. It is a little pricey, but a little goes a long way so you can probably use this for quite some time. I don't advise eating with this one/swallowing it; therefore, I would wipe it away before eating when I have this on. Anyway, I don't like how it smells and tastes too.
I will keep it for emergency use/travel and I will go back to my lip balm one day when I don't need so much TLC. Nonetheless, I don't think I can live without it anymore - I'm putting it under my lifesaver list. So today let me talk about a section I barely touch - Facial Mask, courtesy of Faith in Face and The Sample Store for the product!

1. Cleanse face, remove all traces of make up

2. Apply toner to prep skin

3. Remove the protective layer and apply the smooth side of the mask on your face
4. Adjust to ensure a good fit

6. Remove mask and pat leftover essence into skin

Packaging

The masks come in very cute packaging. The tag lines are very catchy as well. The sheet comes with not one, but two protective plastic layers. Are they there to prevent the mask from tearing? Very thoughtful just that it is not that environmental-friendly.

Sheet type

This is not your usual cotton or microfiber sheet mask. Faith in Face masks are hydrogel sheets.
Think of mask as an isotonic drink after a good work out. You can do fine without but it is great to have.
It is separated into two pieces (for better fit!) and made of hydrogel. This material is able to deliver the most hydration and nutrients to your skin.

Another special thing about the mask is it has this ultra smooth side, tried and tested.

Sheet fit

It is not bad but not perfect yet. The mask is a bit small for my face; thus, it does not fully cover my cheekbones area.

Application

No more ill-fitting masks with the two-piece design. It is a tad more troublesome to put on the lower face but the benefits seem to overrule the cons.
Note that there isn't a lot of serum in the pack.

Effect

Here's after use. Before was less firm and nourished. I personally don't find the masks very different in terms of functionality. All three I have tried (After Shower Look, Black & White Film Star and Nourish Me) gave me brighter, moisturised skin after use.

Price

Hydrogel masks are often more pricey than cotton masks but they are of higher quality. You do pay more for each piece but for the quality of the mask, I think it is rather worth it.

The Verdict

Note that you wouldn't get 3 different variants in a pack if you purchase from the store. Masking with The Faith's masks really makes me feel like I am in a spa. I will not use this on a regular basis as Faith's masks are a little on the pricer side (Cotton masks are half the price!!). Instead, I will save it for days with important events. All 3 of them performed pretty similarly in my opinion. There are two more - Miss invisible pore and Hold me tight. I have not tried them yet so I cannot comment much. Nonetheless, the three different types I have tried is not too bad. If you are tired and worn out, why not treat you skin and inject some moisture with a mask today. You will not regret ^^

2. Rub product in circular motions onto body gently, focusing more on problematic areas (cellulite, stretch-marks, rough patches like elbows) and leave it on for 5-10 minutes.
3. Rinse off with water. You should feel a thin layer of oil on your skin because it is nourished.
If you find it too oily, feel free to rinse off product with body soap.

The actual polish comes in a glass jar. I suggest scooping it out using a spoon of some sort as the scrub tends to get stuck under my nails.

Really very soft after scrubbing. And not drying at all. There is some sort of thin layer of film after you rinse the polish off. I like how it makes my skin feels!

Usage

Probably a little more troublesome to use than those in a gel form but this is definitely more environmental friendly. (microbeads in some scrubs cannot be degraded). It is all about getting use to. I typically do a body scrub every once a week.

The Verdict:

BT Lavander body polish does a good job; it did everything it is supposed to. Basic Theory also has body polishes in other scents/flavours. Some are really interesting like Earl Grey.

Remember to rub in gentle, circular motion unless you have thick skin haha. I prefer to keep my scrub more thick (3 drops of water or so?) but if you find it too rough for your skin, add a few more drops of water. However, avoid adding too much water if not it will be quite hard to apply.

Although the ingredients are au-naturel, it will dry your skin if you use it too frequently. I recommend twice a week, especially when you make up on a daily basis.

This is pretty so-so to me. I am not impressed enough to go through the trouble to use this. Then again, everyone's skin is different.

I don't wash my face with a facial cleanser in the morning. Thus, to remove any sebum produced during my zzz time, I will go over with a toner. I find this particular toner rather suitable as it contains ingredients which help regulate oil etc.

Absorption is pretty decent and it does not leave any sticky residue. However, I find that it will make my skin a little less smooth though!

Effects

I used to use it like a regular toner (day and night, pat in) but I did not notice any significant changes. In my opinion, this works better as a cleansing toner. But then again, my skin is more towards the dry side so maybe this is one of the reasons why it does not work very well for me.

The Verdict:

As a cleansing toner, it is fine. For people with dry skin, you can go over with a moisturising toner after you remove all the last bit of make up/dirt with this. I will only tone with this when I find my skin more oily than usual (period yo). For people who are suffering from acne, you can consider testing this out as it is very gentle. Oh ya this toner is quite value for money too.

Is it grass or is it herb? Definitely smells like something raw and organic. It doesn't linger for too long so don't worry even if you do not fancy the scent. But when a product smells like that you will feel like it is doing good to your skin haaaa. Leave a light rose scent after that.

Convenient touch ups

This is my best friend at work, literally. You know how dehydrated your skin will feel if you sit in an air-conditioned room for the whole day. I put this in the office and spritz some throughout the day to refresh my skin whenever necessary. The liquid particles are quite huge(not pressurised) though so be careful if your make is not waterproof. Hold it further to get a better distribution.

Expiry date

All Flower2 Grass2 products are good for nine months from the date they were made. This shows how natural they are and possibly no or minimum preservatives are added into the formulation. This is great but at the same time it also means I have to finish them asap. I always take super long to go through something so I think I may have to toss it out before I can finish them, which to me is a waste.

The Verdict:

This toner is almost invisible - you don't feel it, you don't see it, you don't really smell it as well. It will literally feel like nothing after everything is absorbed. Slowly, but surely, it conditions your skin from within. The spray makes it very convenient to touch up any time anywhere. This is pretty fine to me.

This is probably my favourite product out of everything I have tried. I like the fact that it feels and smells so good on my skin. Very light yet it does whatever it is supposed to do. I have not seen my scars improved but my face feels a lot more smoother and hydrated when I wake up

My under eye area feels so much more hydrated after incorporating Berrily cream into my routine. It does not crease as much anymore. I am not sure whether it is my imagination or what but I feel that my dark circles seem to improve after using this. Not too oily and I am happy it does not give me millia seeds (that thing sucks).

PS I avoid my eyelids area during the day to ensure there is no excess oil around.

The Verdict:

The Berrily Me eye cream is not too bad. It does what it is supposed to do and it does not give me other problems. If it really improve my dark circles I'd let you guys know again! Oh it is even good for sensitive skin. I had a bad eye infection a few days ago and my eyelid area was swollen and red. Nonetheless, I applied my eye cream as per normal and it did not irritate my already-sensitive skin at all. The swelling went down after that.

Remember I mentioned I do not use the day cream a lot? This is because I typically use this under make up. It is very moisturising and incredibly light. The scent is not my thing but it is fine, I shall bear with it. :p
