Promises:

Maybelline Great Lash has been selling for over 40 years. It is a mascara used over generations. What is so great about great lash? I got to try it; that’s why I picked this up from one of the drugstores in Australia. It is not difficult to find there.

Packaging

The neon pink and green packaging will surely catch your attention. There is no odd smell as well.

Wand

The wand is one of the key things when it comes to mascara.




Maybelline Great Lash's wand is alright, comfortable enough to apply with. This wand is average in size and it comes with dense fibres, something I didn’t expect for a lengthening mascara. It is easy to apply, coats all my lashes evenly and generously.

Colour

This mascara is pigmented, and really dark. I can’t imagine how the darkest black will look like when this is already quite intense.

Formula

The formula is not too dry or wet. Some mascaras are so dry that you cannot get anything on your lashes while some are so wet it will smudge almost immediately.

Drying time

Doesn't take long to dry.

Effect/look

I really like how it made my lashes/eyes looked. Lengthens well and fans out the lashes. One coat is often enough but you can do a second layer to intensify the look.



Give a certain amount of volume but at the same time does not clump together like cockroach legs. It is very dark - just the way I like it.

Transfer-proof/smudge-proof

You can tell I am pretty happy with Maybelline Great Lash so far.. But, this transfers like crazy.



I can clean this up easily.


However, after wearing this for a couple of hours, it smudges the other way.




I tried many ways to make it work - eyeshadow, powder my undereye/eye area, use less product etc but nothing worked.

Within a few hours, I will look like a panda or someone with bad makeup.



It is not because of Singapore’s humid weather because it is the same when I was in Australia.
I cannot deal with eye products that smudge no matter how good they look. I didn’t even try it on my lower lashes. This is my dealbreaker.

Waterproof

Didn’t bother testing this out; it doesn’t matter when it cannot stay on my upper lashes during normal wear conditions.

Overall

I really wanted this to work for it. Usually, I will not give eye products a second chance the moment they smudge. However, I tried this many times, over and over again but nothing seems to work. If Maybelline Great Lash works for you, do share a tip or two with me.
I love how it makes my eyes looked - wide awake, dramatic yet not over the top. I went to research online and it seems to work for many as well. However, there is a handful (like me) who fell out of the net.
