Do you know first impressions are made by how you smell, be it to somebody you just met or passers-by.
Thanks SaSaSG and IFF for organising a fragrance workshop for bloggers/media. I'm more informed about fragrances and scents now!
International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) is a company that creates fragrances, not just your typical fine fragrances but also scents you find in haircare, soaps and even fabric softeners.
Always wanted to visit places like this one day and I finally had the chance :D
First section: Haircare
Their 'testing' area is like hair salon! They do testing on themselves to know exactly how the scent will smell like before, during and after using a product. Very professional!
Different countries differ in their taste and preferences. Hence, assorted scents are developed to suit the targeted country. Scents are personalised, just that you are not aware of it.
Second section: bodycare
Bodycare includes bar soap and body foam.
Another of their testing area - transparent cubicles fitted with shower facilities.
They do not shower in the transparent cubicles though! Hahaha sorry to disappoint!
We get to smell how each scent fills up the bathroom.
Third section: fabric care
We are introduced different popular fabric softeners in different countries Consumer research is done in normal households, how fun is that!
After which, we gathered to sniff tons of different scents.
You can close your eyes to heighten your sense of smell.
Then we put our newly acquired knowledge to use - CREATE OUR OWN PERFUME.
That is of course, with the guidance from perfumer Kim from IFF.
A more long-lasting perfume has a higher concentration of base notes in it. Skin types and temperature in general has an effect on the lasting power of a scent. The fragrances I own typically don't last very long on me because I prefer those with stronger top/heart notes.
That's one of the insightful things I picked up from the professionals!
Anyway back to our perfume research >,<
