I am very new to vegetarian food so I'm glad to be introduced to a gem in Yishun.
Let me share with you what I tried that day.
Carrot Cake ($3.50/$5/$8)
Chunky rice cakes fried in lots and lots of eggs.
Very fragrant. This plate is the smallest one ($3.50).
Curry Chicken ($4)
Mock chicken meat and assorted vegetables like lady's fingers and brinjal.
Kueh Chap ($3)
Smooth Kway Tiao with a bowl of braised sauce. You have tofu, egg and some vegetarian liao.
The herbal taste in the soup is to point.
Only 1 size is available.
Sin Chew Beehoon ($4/$6/$9)
I really love this! The wok hey flavour is strong and bee hoon is chewy and has a good bite. In short, this has to be one of the better Sin Chew Beehoon in town.
I love it so much we ordered a second plate. $4 is a good size for 1 pax.
I am very happy with my trip to Zi Zai Vegetarian (Yishun). It is really a hidden gem in the North of Singapore. It is located within a neighbouring estate so you have to either take a bus from Yishun interchange or drive. Singapore is only this big. There is also another one located in Tampines. It really changed my perspective on vegetarian food. Everything is flavoured nicely and the dishes are really very close to their non-vegetarian counterparts. On top of that, everything is very affordable priced and portions are large.
There are plenty of sitting space in the restaurant. Service is prompt and polite.
For my vegetarian and non-vegetarian friends, I recommend you to give Zi Zai Zai (Zi Zai Vegetarian) a try if you haven't!
